Plot Summary:

Mahoro, Minawa and Slash

Mahoro is a combat android for the secret military organization Vesper (Means “wasp” in latin), dedicated to fighting the alien threat known as “Saint”. For years Mahoro has been Vesper’s top warrior, but her lifespan is coming to an end. She is given the choice to continue operation as a warrior, in which case her lifespan will be limited to a few months, or to demilitarize and live a slightly longer time (Approximately a year) as a civillian.

Mahoro chooses to retire but (for reasons we discover later) wishes to continue to be useful and so takes a job as a maid at the home of one Suguru Misato, a 14 year old orphan who lives alone in a messy house. Mahoro’s appearance completely turns the lonely boy’s life upside down.

The first half of the first season is mostly a comedy with fanservice elements, alternating between Shijiko sensei’s rivalry with Mahoro for Suguru’s affections, Mahoro’s preoccupation (Mercilessly promoted by the big busted Shijiko) about her tiny chest and Suguru’s attempts to hide Mahoro from his friends. But after the arrival of Ryuga, a Saint android masquerading as a teacher, the series shifts again to action, culminating in a showdown between the two combat androids in an abandoned school.

Characters:

  • Suguru
  • Suguru Misato from Mahoromatic

A bespectacled and amiable nerd, Suguru is cut from the same cloth as most of the male protagonists in similarly themed japanese animation series. Thankfully, he occasionally gets a few chances to prove he has some backbone and personality, making it a little less of a mistery why all the women in the show are so taken with him

  • Mahoro
  • Mahoro in combat uniform

The title character, Mahoro is a combat android made with a hybrid of earth and alien technology. All her life (9 years to be specific) she has lived in Vesper military bases, leaving only for training and conditioning missions (Running through deserts or the north pole) or to fight battles. As such she has a large store of knowledge but is naive and innocent about ordinary life.

  • Minawa
  • Minawa, from season 2 of Mahoromatic

Appears in season 2, a cyborg created by Vesper’s rival organization, Management. Minawa is an adorably clumsy and apologetic little girl, quickly adopted by Mahoro as her “younger sister”. She claims to have escaped from her masters, but this is not entirely true.

  • Shijiko Sensei
  • Shijiko sensei, Suguru's sexy teacher

Suguru’s buxom homeroom teacher, already with a tendency towards lasciviousness, becomes obsessed with Suguru once he finds out he has a young and attractive maid living with him at home. Her role is mostly comic relief.

  • Slash
  • Slash, the panther support robot from Vesper

A pantherlike combat android from Vesper, sent to protect Mahoro and Suguru, although most of the time he ends up employed as a mascot and babysitter for Suguru’s puppy dog, guri.

  • Ryuga
  • Ryuga, the combat android from Saint

A Saint android created to battle Mahoro, Ryuga is sent to earth undercover as a teacher at Suguru’s school in order to determine the meaning of Mahoro’s new “mission”. Spoiling for a rematch against the enemy who always managed to defeat him, Ryuga stretches the objectives of his mission to directly challenge Mahoro
